Refugee Action has over 20 years' experience of supporting integration and long-term settlement of refugees in the UK.

As well as working directly with refugees, we also produce resources to assist refugee community organisations and support groups to develop services and build their organisations to help the integration of refugees. Some of these are outlined and available below:

Are we doing the right thing?

Refugee Action have been involved in an ambitious and innovative consultation programme to evaluate its community development and integration work and to identify gaps in services in the different regions.

We consulted with all our key stakeholders, from funders and partners agencies to refugee community organisations and individual service users.

The report Building capacity outlines the key findings from the consultation as well as ideas for future developments.

Working Together: Views of Refugee Action stakeholders was published in July 2006 and shows a high level of satisfaction with Refugee Action, both as a partner and service provider. The vast majority (over 90%) rated our services as good or excellent, and similarly our approach to partnership working.

Other publications

We have produced a wide range of reports and handbooks based on our experiences of working with refugees which may be useful to refugee community organisations and anyone interested in integration.

Refugee Action's Vietnamese Oral History Project is a national project based on more than 100 interviews with people from different ages and backgrounds who came here from Vietnam.

'Every tree has its roots' is a unique resource that preserves the experiences of refugees from Vietnam who settled in the UK between 1979 and the early 1990's.

Influencing government

We make statements on government policy whenever necessary. See news items.

In September 2004 we submitted a response to the Home Office's consultation Integration Matters: A National Strategy for Refugee Integration.
