The “Move On” Refugee Advocacy project is for people who have received a positive decision after an asylum claim (i.e. new refugees). The project provides trained volunteer advocates to work with new UK citizens in accompanying them through the housing and welfare benefits process in Liverpool. The project works with families and individuals.

We ran a national Refugee Awareness Project from July 2005 to December 2008. The project aimed to make communities better informed and more welcoming for refugees and asylum seekers and to ensure that our clients began to feel safer and less threatened. For more information about awareness raising work, please contact a local Refugee Action office.

Funded by the Parenting Fund, Refugee Action Liverpool's Refugee Parent Project works with asylum seeking/refugee parents and their families.
Through the provision of support, advice and advocacy for parents, the project works in partnership with parents to provide information on services that can help parents address their families' needs and to help them access services where they have faced barriers.
The project strives to support parents to meet the wider holistic needs of their family such as education, employment, housing, health, accessing appropriate legal advice, etc.
Two part-time workers work with parents with a mixture of one-to-one work (for a time limited period of approximately 10-12 weeks) and a variety of parental/family group based activities. It is hoped that the project will develop volunteer support to further develop our ability to meet the needs of asylum seeking and refugee parents.
We ran a Peer Mentoring Project from June 2004 to May 2007 for young refugees and asylum seekers. The Liverpool-based project aimed to reduce the isolation of young people, explore new opportunities with them and work to build their skills and confidence through the support of a young mentor.
