London > community development

Our community development officer in Stockwell, London, works with refugees in Kent, Sussex and Cambridge to promote their long-term integration and the development of refugee communities.

We provide a range of tailored services such as training, consultancy and advice to refugee community organisations and support groups. We work with them and with other service providers to maximise opportunities for refugees, and to influence policy and access to better services.

For more information about how we can work with you please contact our community development officer, Tesfaye Gojjie.

Here are some of the groups we work with:

Kent Refugee Support Group (KRSG) is a community development and integration organisation for refugees in East Kent. KRSG provides advice on a range of topics as well as community activities such as a social evening, homework club, various integration programmes, workshops in schools and agencies.

The Gatwick Detainees Welfare Group in Sussex provides emotional and practical support to asylum seekers and immigration detainees held at Tinsley House Immigration Removal Centre at Gatwick Airport. www.gdwg.org.uk

Cambridge Refugee Support Group works with refugees and asylum seekers to enable them to feel secure, to achieve their own goals and to play a full part in the community by meeting their immediate practical and emotional support needs and by helping them to access services in Cambridge.
